I had the good fortune to attend such a “salon” Monday night, December 20th. Organized by Angar Mora, who has encouraged and promoted performing and visual artists for 15 years, we celebrated the winter solstice, and later watched the lunar eclipse, a rare event on the day of the solstice. Aqua vitae was served, a vodka defined as “potato juice.” These salons occur every Monday night, and artists who display their work in one of the restaurant’s rooms are invited to demonstrate their craft during the evening. Open mic allows other artists time to speak on whatever artistic topic they wish, or read a poem, perform part of a play, sing a song etc. As the salon occurs in an Italian restaurant, pasta and other Italian dishes are consumed simultaneously.
My art will be on display July 25-September 22, 2011 at Arrivederci Restaurant, 3 and G S Streets, San Rafael, CA. Join me for a Monday night Salon.
